Our espresso coffee cup & saucer is entirely handmade and hand-painted by L’Antica in Deruta, Italy. L’Antica is a prestigious Bottega d’Arte making fine Italian pottery since the 1950’s. The artisan’s signature is hand-painted on the bottom of each saucer.
The pattern hand-painted on this small cup, and its saucer is known as Galletto, aka Orvieto. This Deruta pottery pattern is a familiar icon and one of the oldest Italian ceramic designs. Its crowing rooster has been bringing good luck and prosperity to the home since the 13th century.
Espresso coffee is not just a drink: it’s a moment of pure pleasure. The small cups are as much part of the experience as the coffee itself. Our cups are ideally made of ceramic to keep the espresso hot and preserve its taste and aroma for longer.
The shape of our small handmade cups meets the demand of Italian espresso lovers. Its rounded inside allows the coffee to swirl around nicely and the crema to float on top, golden against the white background. The handle is shaped for a perfect grip.
The espresso cups and saucers measure 4.7 inches (cup 2.8×2.1h inches). They are made of Deruta ceramic and are hand-painted with food-safe glazes in compliance with US regulations.
